AOEC

AOEC is a credit recovery program for Waukegan High School students in which students use a virtual platform, either Edmentum and/or Apex, to work at their own pace to recover credits and graduate on time with their class. Programs offered at AOEC are for 11th and 12th grade high school students. To apply for the AOEC program, students must be on track to graduate by 21 years of age.

Ombudsman

The AOEC educational program is built on the premise that regular attendance is vital and mandatory for students' success in school. Chronic absence from school is the single and greatest cause of poor academic achievement. If the student is between the ages of 6 and 17, his or her chronic absence also violates the State of Illinois' compulsory attendance laws. Ensuring students maintain regular attendance requires a cooperative effort between the student, parents, and school personnel. AOEC students are provided with multiple interventions in order to support student learning. These interventions consist of weekly conferences with classroom teachers/case manager, academic contracts with school support staff, and meetings with school administration. Students who exhibit excessive absences or do not meet academic expectations for credit recovery are referred to receive educational services at Ombudsman Institute in Waukegan. Regional Office of Education (ROE)

Regional Office of Education Safe School Project (ROE) is located in Vernon Hills. The program serves disruptive students under 17 years of age who are given another chance in lieu of expulsion. As a result of the intake process, an individual learning plan is developed for each student and is monitored monthly.
