Principal

Born and raised in the city of Chicago,  Mr. Hill is a proud husband and father of three young men who have all attended Waukegan Public Schools.   He began his career in Waukegan Community Unit School District 60 in the fall of 2002 as a mathematics teacher at Jack Benny Middle School.  In the Fall of 2008, he was hired as the Dean of Discipline at Jack Benny where he served until the spring of 2011.  He then served as the Assistant Principal at Abbott Middle School from 2011- 2015.  Before his most recent appointment as co-principal at Waukegan High School, Mr. Hill has been the Principal of Clearview Elementary School for five years.  During these 18 years of service in Waukegan Public School, Mr. Hill has grown to live by the personal motto and mission of reaching “every student, every day, no days off!”  Mr. Hill has earned a Bachelor Degree in Mathematics & Secondary Education from the University of Minnesota, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership (Teacher-Leader) from Saint Xavier University, and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership (Administration) from the American College of Education. Mr. Hill has a track record in WPS60 of improving school climate and culture, increasing student academic outcomes, and advancing staff and organizational effectiveness.

Ms. Sheri Fato
Assistant Principal

Sheri Fato is an accomplished educator and leader who brings extensive experience to her role as Assistant Principal at the Alternative/Optional Education Center. Over the course of her career, she has served in various capacities, working to support students of diverse backgrounds and learning needs. Sheri is known for her ability to create positive, supportive environments where students are encouraged to reach their full potential.
In addition to her leadership experience, Ms. Fato has dedicated much of her career to mentoring and collaborating with teachers to strengthen instructional practices and foster student success. She is passionate about developing innovative approaches to education that meet students where they are and help them achieve both academically and personally.
Ms. Fato's experience as an educator and administrator has shaped her into a leader who values relationships, collaboration, and open communication. She understands the importance of building trust within the school community and works tirelessly to ensure that students and staff feel supported. Her dedication, vision, and belief in the transformative power of education make her a valuable addition to the AOEC leadership team.
