Important Remote Learning Information

Hello AOEC Students and Families,

Welcome back Bulldogs! For those who do not know, Mr. Turner has moved to Georgia to be closer to family and I am honored to be the new Interim Principal here at AOEC. As you know, school begins on this Monday, August 17th. Beginning the year safely with remote learning may be challenging, but we want to do our best to set our students up for success. Here is some important information to help your student be successful during remote learning.

Attendance:

Students will begin each day by logging in to their Infinite Campus student portal to self-verify their attendance. They will need to do this every day for each of their classes. Directions for how to do this can be found here

Live sessions:

They will also need to log into their google meets for each class everyday. The links for those live meetings can be found in the google classroom for each class. Please check your google classroom and district email each day for updates from your teachers. Resources for how to access your google classroom can be found here.

Edmentum:

We are still utilizing the Edmentum Program for all students and students are expected to log in each day to complete work in each of their courses. Failure to do so will result in being marked absent for that course. Some resources for parents and students on how to use the edmentum platform can be found here(parents) and here(students)

Daily Schedule:

We have made a slight adjustment to our schedules to accommodate for remote learning. Please see our new schedule here

Communication with Teachers:

All of our teachers and staff are using the Remind app to communicate with students and parents. It is imperative that you opt in to receive notifications from Remind. This will allow you to communicate often with your student’s teachers and receive important reminders and updates about school as we progress through the phases and eventually return to in-person learning. Resources about how to use Remind can be found here.

Remote Learning Handbook:

An overview of all of this information can be found in the Parent/Student Remote Learning Handbook here English and Spanish

Reaching out for help:

The district will continue to distribute meals every Tuesday and Thursday at 117 locations across our community.

If you need any technology resources or support, please contact Mrs. Paulette Barnes at [email protected].

If you need assistance with registration, please contact Ms. Evon Childs at [email protected]

For any other questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Michael Cicirale at [email protected] or Mrs. Flor Carter at [email protected]

We are so excited to have you as part of our AOEC family and we want to ensure that you are successful in progressing towards graduation. Last year we had 145 graduates from the AOEC program, and we believe that in 2021 we will see even more of you meet that milestone!  There is a lot of effort and hard work ahead for all of us, but we are ready for this challenge and we know that you are too.  Welcome back, Bulldogs, and remember that we are stronger together!

Stay safe,

Mrs. Flor Carter
