Administration

Principal, Mrs. Flor Carter

Dear A.O.E.C Families,

I am very excited and honored to be joining the AOEC family as the Interim Principal. Just over 12 years ago, I joined the Waukegan Public Schools District as a first year teacher fresh out of college. In that time I have grown both personally and professionally which solidified my beliefs regarding education. The goals of the district are lofty, but they can be achieved when leaders, teachers, students, parents and community members are committed to excellence and to working together each and every day.

As an Assistant Principal and House Leader I have worked diligently to help all stakeholder groups stay committed to doing whatever it takes to increase student achievement and social-emotional well-being.  I believe that failure is not an option for any child, and I partner daily with students to provide them with tools and strategies for success. In addition, I coach teachers and parents and provide them with a comprehensive set of tools and strategies that continue to support student success. This belief will drive the work that I do at AOEC. Working together with students, families and staff to meet the needs of those who need additional academic and social emotional support and services not provided in the traditional school setting.

As a former Waukegan resident, I understand the school district culture and multiple aspects of the community culture.  I know how to build authentic relationships with students, parents, staff and community members.  I believe my ability to overcome challenges and embrace the future makes me an excellent role model for all students;  especially our diverse  student community.

I have truly appreciated the opportunities that Daniel Webster Middle School has given me to grow and improve as an administrator. I hope to continue to grow in new ways as the Interim Principal of AOEC.

Sincerely,
Flor Carter

Assistant Principal, Mr. Cicirale

Mr. Cicirale

Greetings Waukegan School Community,

I am excited to be a new member of the A.O.E.C. family in my role as Assistant Principal! Numerous positive initiatives have been implemented at A.O.E.C. and I look forward to championing these as we continue to implement additional facets to best serve our students and families.

My personal and professional experiences provide me with the most essential component for effective education of students -- relationship building and collaboration for success. In my previous roles as a Career and Technical Education Teacher/Coordinator, Director of Alternative Education, and Assistant Principal, both in the south suburbs and Chicago, my approach to serving students is holistic in nature. Students must know that all school personnel care about them as a person, thereby paving the road for academic success.

Serving diverse settings in a healthy space of mutual respect and rapport are both my natural personal and professional dispositions. We must work harmoniously as a team to provide the foundation and supports for the success of our children both inside the school walls and for the abounding world surrounding world.

My promise to the A.O.E.C. community is that I will serve our school community passionately, proudly, and effectively. Please contact me with any concerns or feedback you may have. I'm grateful to be working with the Waukegan Public School Community!

Sincerely yours,
Mr. Michael Cicirale
